Box Score Virginia Union University's Braxton Byerson scored his 1,000th career point, but Winston-Salem State University downed the Panthers 59-54 on December 8 in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

Byerson led the Panthers with 19 points and eight rebounds and Juan Wilson added 13 points for VUU.

Winston-Salem State was paced by Shelton Carter's 17 points.

The loss dropped VUU to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in CIAA play.

Winston-Salem State raised it's record to 8-1 overall and 2-1 in the CIAA.

VUU now faces Shaw University on January 10 in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
