Virginia Union University placed five players in double-figures, including Juan Wilson and Braxton Byerson who scored 12 points apiece, but Johnson C. Smith University stopped the Panthers 73-67 on January 17 in Charlotte, N.C.

VUU's Wayne Ford, Branden McDonald and Brandon Smith scored 10 points apiece in the game.

Wilson, Ford and Justin Ramsey grabbed seven rebounds apiece for the Panthers.

Johnson C. Smith was led in scoring by Trevin Parks, who scored 26 points.

The loss dropped VUU to 6-5 overall and 4-2 in CIAA play.

Johnson C. Smith raised it's record to 10-4 overall and 6-0 in CIAA play.

Virginia Union now travels to Fayetteville, N.C., to face Fayetteville State University on January 20.  The game will be streamed live at www.vuusports.com
