Virginia Union University's Braxton Byerson scored 26 points and Wayne Ford added 15 as VUU downed Virginia State University 68-51 in the 2011 Freedom Classic, held on January 16 in the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Va.

Braxton hit a season-high seven three-pointers while teammate Brandon Smith had a career-high 10 points.

The win was VUU's 21st straight win over Virginia State, and send the Trojans to a school-record 13th straight loss.

The win raised VUU's record to 6-4 overall and 4-1 in the CIAA. 

VSU fell to 1-13 overall and 0-6 in the CIAA.

VUU now travels to Charlotte, N.C., to play Johnson C. Smith University January 17.  The game can be seen live at www.vuusports.com.
