After defeating Virginia State University 77-71 Monday night, Virginia Union University 's winning streak ended with Shaw University in a nail biting lost 71-75.
The Panthers led at half-time 44-36. Braxton Byerson led the team at the half with 14 points going 4-5 for three pointers, 4-7 for field goals, and 2-2 at the charily strip.
During the second half Shaw University kept chopping at the score going on a 15-0 run in six minutes bringing the score to 55-56 with 9:44 left on the clock. The score stayed close until Shaw's Will Graham hit two foul shots making the score tied at 67 with 3:26 left on the clock. After that Shaw took over the game and there was no way for Union to come back.
The leading scorer for last night game was Brandon Byerson and Gregg Thondique with 16 points. Teammates Braxton Byerson had 14 points and Lemoyne Williams had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
