With a slow start from Virginia Union University it wasn't long until the Panthers decided to take over the game. As the game progress the Bears of Shaw University slowly, but surely stayed in the game with the Panthers. The Panthers led at half-time 44–32.

 

Shaw University kept chopping at the score until the game ended 66–66. The Bears outscored the Panthers by 34 points in the 2^nd half.

 

 During overtime VUU made 11-12 foul shots making the Panthers regained the lead to win 80-74.   

 

 

 The leading scorer for the night was Braxton Byerson with 20 points. Teammate Lemoyne Williams had 17 points to help the panthers with another win.   

 

Virginia Union University goes on the road to take on Livingstone University on January 29, 2009 at 7:30 pm.
