Virginia Union University's volleyball team fell to Glenville State University 25-12, 25-14, 25-14 on Saturday, September 12, in Glenville, W.V.
With the loss, the Lady Panthers are now 3-3 on the season.
Virginia Union was led by
Zinnia Pickett, who recorded two service aces and eight assists. Pickett also added two kills.
Jordan Carter finished with four kills and nine digs for the Lady Panthers, while
Maria Pena added four kills, two blocks and eight digs.
The Lady Panthers held an early 2-0 lead in the first set and battled Glenville State to a 7-7 tie in the third set before the Pioneers pulled away.
"We fell short tonight, which means we have more work to do," said Virginia Union Head Volleyball Coach Anetra Sims. "We will continue to grind, put in the work, and stay committed to finding our consistency. The journey continues, and we will be ready to bounce back."
Virginia Union will now open its 2026 home season when the Lady Panthers take on Clinton College at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
