HARRISONBURG, Va. — The Virginia Union University Panthers women's track & field team turned in a strong showing this past weekend at the JMU Invitational, hosted by James Madison University in Harrisonburg.

"The ladies team continues to move in the right direction," said VUU Head Track & Field Coach Franck Charles. "They keep breaking records and improving every meet. This is exactly why we work so hard."

The Panthers highlighted the weekend with a standout performance in the 4x400-meter relay, placing second overall while setting a new school record with a time of 3:50.52. With the mark, the quartet now ranks among the top three relay teams in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).

Individually, Toni Middlebrooks delivered a season-best performance in the 400-meter dash, clocking a time of 56.56 seconds to move into fifth place in the CIAA conference rankings.

Sprinter Christal Rolack continued her impressive season in the 100-meter dash, setting a new personal best with a time of 11.84 seconds.

In the 400 meters, Victoria Louis finished fifth overall with a personal-best time of 57.95 seconds, adding another strong performance on the track for the Panthers.

In field competition, Kortni Searles placed third overall in the discus throw to lead VUU's efforts in the throwing events.

"We are now getting ready to wrap up our final regular season meet at Virginia State University," Charles said. "We've got a few things to clean up as we prepare for the championship, but we're right where we need to be."

The Panthers will return to action at the VSU Relays on Saturday, April 18, hosted by Virginia State University in Petersburg.
