ATLANTA, Ga. – The Virginia Union University men's track & field team delivered an impressive performance at the Morehouse College Relays held this past weekend in Atlanta, highlighted by multiple top finishes and a new school record.
Competing against several strong programs, including Morehouse College, Albany State University, Tennessee State University, Tuskegee University, Savannah State University, Clayton State University, Fisk University, Talladega College, Rust College, Lane College, LeMoyne-Owen College, and athletes from South Carolina State University, the Panthers rose to the challenge against elite competition.
The Panthers won the men's team competition, racking up 190 points. Morehouse was second with 115 points while Tennessee State was third with 103.5 points. A total of 15 schools competed in the team competition.
"Our athletes showed great effort, delivered outstanding performances, and represented the university at a high level, bringing home multiple strong finishes and new school records," said VUU Head Men's Track & Field Coach Franck Charles. "Special thanks to our staff for the opportunity to compete and showcase our talent."
One of the highlights of the meet came in the
4x400-meter relay, where the Panthers captured
first place while setting a
new school record of 3:11.05, a time that currently ranks
among the Top 10 in NCAA Division II this season.

- Mychael Tucker – 1st place, 200m (21.15 personal best); 2nd place, 400m (47.37)
- Antonio Smith – 1st place, 110m hurdles; 100m finalist (10.65 personal best)
- Rodgers Korir – 2nd place, 1500m
- Darryl Wilson Jr. – 3rd place, 200m (21.43 personal best)
- Chase Burke – 4th place, 400m
- Tremayne Cowart – 5th place, 400m

"Overall, the team showed up and competed at a high level," Charles said. "This meet proved once again to be a highly competitive environment."
The Panthers will now turn their attention to their next competition at the Norfolk State Invitational hosted by Norfolk State University on
Saturday, April 4 in Norfolk.
"Now, we shift our focus to the NSU Invitational," Charles said. "The job is not finished."
