RICHMOND, Va. – Nine members of the Virginia Union University men's track & field team have been named to the All-Atlantic Region Team by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
VUU's
Chase Burke, Tremayne Cowart, Rashad Smith and
Mychael Tucker earned All-Region honors for their performance as members of the Panthers' 4x400-meter relay team.
Virginia Union's
Barrian Authurs was recognized in the 400-meter hurdles,
Timothy Butler in the discus,

The top five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, along with each member of the region's top three relay teams. The regions used for the award — Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West — mirror those used during the cross country season.
"At Virginia Union University Track & Field, we are building more than champions — we are building leaders," said VUU Assistant Track & Field Coach Brian Gurley. "Our student-athletes understand the value of leading by example, embracing discipline, accountability and relentless hard work every single day. This is a special group hungry to grow, committed to the process and deserving of every success earned through their dedication and sacrifice. I am proud of what this team has already accomplished, and even more excited about what lies ahead. The standard has been set and we are just getting started."
