The Virginia Union University women's track & field team opened its 2026 indoor season with a strong showing at the VCU Invitational, using the meet as an important early-season tune-up following winter break.
"The VCU Invitational was a great opportunity for us to knock the rust off and get some quality work in at our first meet since returning from winter break," said VUU Head Track & Field Coach Franck Charles. "Our main focus was getting our athletes back into competitive shape, and while some inconsistency was expected this early in the season, we showed up and competed well across the board."
The Lady Panthers turned in several standout performances, highlighted by a record-breaking effort fromÂ
Jadah Pringle, who set a new school record in the shot put with a throw ofÂ
11.98 meters. Pringle's mark earned her a spot in the finals and established a new program standard.
Natalie Young also delivered an impressive performance, placingÂ
third overall in the 800 meters.
