Virginia Union University's Zachary Jones, a sophomore from Chester, Va., who is majoring in Marketing with a 3.4 grade point average, has been named the CIAA Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday, April 15.

Jones Placed 2nd in the Discus Throw, setting a new school record at the University of Mount Olive in North Carolina with a mark of 48.38m while also securing 4th place in the Shot Put with a throw of 14.44m.

"Zack Jones has been the model of consistency in his throws this season, delivering solid performances meet after meet," said VUU Assistant Track & Field Coach John Cerminara. "What's even more impressive is that he's not just holding steady, he's climbing. Every week, his marks keep rising, showing he's just getting started."

Virginia Union will next compete at the University of Virginia Challenge on Saturday, April 19, in Charlottesville, Va.
