Men's Track Excels at Mount Olive Meet

The University of Mount Olive Track Meet on Saturday, April 12, was a success for our program! We brought only our throwers and one sprinter this time, allowing the rest of the team a much-needed chance to rest and recover ahead of the upcoming University of Virginia meet.

Head Coach Franck Charles shared his excitement:

"Congratulations to Jeremiah Palacious, a freshman from Hampton, Va., who is majoring in Health Sciences, for placing 1st in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.74.82—an impressive performance, especially considering it was his first time running the event this season. He also finished 4th in the 400m hurdles."

More Highlights:
  • Zachary Jones, a sophomore from Chester, Va., who is majoring in Marketing, broke his own school record in the discus throw with a mark of 48.38m and also placed 4th in the shot put.
  • Tajhir Tate, a graduate student from Elizabeth, N.J,, who is majoring in Social Work, delivered a strong performance as well, finishing 5th in the shot put.
Great job to all our athletes who competed—your hard work continues to pay off!

Virginia Union will next compete at the University of Virginia Challenge, to be held on April 18-19 in Charlottesville, Va.
