The second outdoor meet for the Virginia Union University men's track team was held at Livingstone College on Saturday, March 29.
The Panthers made a strong showing, with several standout performances and personal bests.

Mychael Tucker claimed first place in the 400m dash, improving his time from 47.94 to 47.80, which currently ranks him 14th in Division II. He also recorded a season-best 21.88 in the 200m dash. Â Â Â Â

Antonio Smith, and
Darryl Wilson Jr. finished fourth overall. Â Â Â Â
    •    Chase Burk placed 3rd in the 400m dash with a season-best time of 48.26.    Â

Franklin Kipchirchir finished 2nd in the 1500m with a time of 4:01.76. Â Â Â Â
    •    Rodgers Korir placed 3rd in the 1500m with a personal-best time of 4:05.62.    Â
    •    Nickson Kiprotich took 2nd place in the 5000m, running 16:39.    Â

Darryl Wilson Jr., and Chase Burk—placed 2nd overall with a time of 3:20.02.

Zachary Jones had a standout performance, placing 1st in shot put with a season-best 15.63m, 2nd in discus with 46.60m, and advancing to the javelin finals. Â Â Â Â
    •    Jeremiah Palacious placed 4th in the long jump with a mark of 6.97m.    Â

Timothy Butler placed 3rd in the discus with a throw of 45.27m.
"The Blue Bear Invitational was a strong meet for us, with 85% of our athletes achieving personal bests in their events," said VUU Head Track & Field Coach Franck Charles. "This is a great sign of progress for both our athletes and coaching staff, though we still have areas to improve as we continue the season. Congratulations for a great job by everyone who competed!"
VUU will now compete in the Norfolk State University Invitational on April 4 and 5 in Norfolk, Va.
