LYNCHBURG, Va. — Day two of competition brought another strong showing from the Virginia Union University women's track & field team at Liberty University, as the Panthers added three more school records.
"Day two was another good day for our ladies as they broke three more school records," said VUU Head Track & Field Coach Franck Charles. "Our women's team is heading in the right direction, and in total they've already shattered four school records this season. I'm extremely proud of them. Now let's stay healthy, keep God first, and finish the season on a strong note."
Record-Breaking Performances:
- Yamilet Cruz broke a 15-year-old school record in the shot put, previously held by Shakeema Browne (11.41m, set in 2010). Cruz surpassed the mark with a throw of 11.83m.
- Abijah Jepkemboi set a new school record in the 5000m, breaking the previous mark held since 2017 by Jepngetich Sheila (21:43) with an outstanding time of 19:47.
- Victoria Louis broke the school record in the 300m with a strong time of 42.08.
Virginia Union will look to build on this strong start as the team continues its indoor season.
