ETTRICK, VA — The Virginia Union University women's cross country team earned a strong second-place finish at the Virginia State University Cross Country Meet on Friday, October 10, finishing just behind Division I opponent Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
VUU was led by standout runner
Abijah Jepkemboi, who set the pace for the Lady Panthers and guided the team to another consistent performance as they continue to build momentum toward the postseason.
"We didn't run our best today as a team — no excuses," said
VUU Head Cross Country Coach Franck Charles. "We just have to figure things out and make the right adjustments before the CIAA Championship meet."
The Lady Panthers will now turn their focus to the
CIAA Cross Country Championship, to be held on October 23 in Salem, Va., where they look to make a strong showing against conference competition.
