Virginia Union University's Franklin Kipchirchir has been named the CIAA Male Runner of the Week for the second straight week, the CIAA announced on Tuesday, September 17.

Kipchirchir, a true freshman from Kapsabet, Kenya, who is majoring in Biology, won the VUU Home XC Opener individual championship with a time of 25:36, marking his second victory of the season.

"I am very proud of Franklin Kipchirchir for winning Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive time," said VUU Head Cross-Country Coach Franck Charles.  "He works very hard, and I can't wait to see what he does with more competition. His goal for the next meet is to run under 25 minutes in the 5.1-mile race against Virginia State University."

VUU will next compete in the 2024 Panther XC Invitational on Friday, September 27.
