RICHMOND, VA – Virginia Union University freshman
Rodgers Korir continued his outstanding start to the 2025 cross-country season, claiming first place in the men's 8K with a new personal best time of 25:27.
Korir was joined by strong performances across the Panthers' lineup. Sophomore Darryl Hawkins set a personal best of 26:59 in the 8K, marking another highlight for VUU in the meet.
"Our second meet of the year was much stronger than the first, which comes as no surprise," said VUU Head Cross-Country Coach Franck Charles. "One meet doesn't define who we are, and I like the direction we're heading. We just have to keep putting in the work."
Coach Charles also highlighted the efforts of
Keon Koonce and the rest of the men's squad for their competitive drive.
"Shoutout to Keon for an impressive run and to the rest of our guys for competing hard," Charles added.
The Panthers will continue their season at the Blue Bear XC Invitational, to be held at Livingstone College on Friday, September 19.
