Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

VUU Hands Lincoln it's First Divisional Loss

Virginia Union University's Tahj Harding scored 32 points as VUU downed Lincoln University of Pennsylvania 78-64 on Wednesday, February 7, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

It was the first division loss for the Lions, who lead the CIAA Northern Division with a 5-1 record.

Virginia Union now holds a half-game lead over Virginia State University for second place in the Northern Division of the CIAA.  VUU is now 4-2 in divisional play while VSU is 3-2.

VUU's Jonathan King added 13 points while Joshua Caine and Kaylen Vines each had six rebounds.

"This was a very impressive win coming off losing to Lincoln less than a week ago by double digits to beating them by double digit," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach Jay Butler.  "We wanted to have a strong defensive performance tonight and the guys were locked in from start to finish.  I thought Tahj had a great game tonight. He was very efficient scoring inside and out. He is making a strong case for Player of the Year honors.  Our freshmen continue to play valuable minutes for us. Malachi Dark and Joshua Caine did a good job scoring around basket. Travis Vaughn continues to get better each game being a floor leader for us."

Virginia Union wraps up the 2023-24 home season when it faces Bluefield State University at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
