Virginia Union University's
Tahj Harding scored 23 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, but Lincoln University of Pennsylvania defeated the Panthers 82-63 on Saturday, February 3, in Lincoln University, Pa.
VUU's
Jonathan Salazar added 10 points for the Panthers in the game.
Virginia Union is now in a tie with Virginia State University for second place in the Northern Division of the CIAA. Both teams have identical 3-2 divisional records, but VUU had the advantage due to the Panthers beating the Trojans in a head-to-head matchup.
"When you have an opportunity to play for first place in the CIAA Northern Division you've got to come out with a sense of urgency, and Lincoln came out that way today," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jay Butler. "We struggled to rebound, defend, and score with the ball today. Their bench outplayed our bench and that was the difference in the game. We have a quick turnaround, so we need to get back to playing Virginia Union basketball to win our next home game."
Virginia Union will face Lincoln University of Pennsylvania at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
