Virginia Union University's
O'Maundre Harris scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Panthers to a 73-70 overtime win over Slippery Rock University on the second day of the Atlantic Region Challenge on Saturday, November 9, in Slippery Rock, Pa.
VUU's
Tahj Harding, who scored 17 points, sent the game into overtime with a three-pointer at the buzzer ending regulation play.
Virginia Union's
Jonathan King led all players on the boards with 13 rebounds while also collecting four steals in the win.
"This was huge win for our program against one of the top teams in the PSAC." said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jay Butler. "The goal was to go 2-0 in the conference challenge and the guys were locked in the entire weekend. I was very proud of our seniors
Jonathan Salazar,
Tahj Harding, and
Jonathan King today for being great leaders all weekend helping our young players get through some tough wins. I also felt like freshman
O'Maundre Harris grew up this weekend playing on a big stage. He had a solid weekend playing the point guard position and making key plays to help us go 2-0 this weekend."
VUU will now face Concord University in the Panthers' home opener at 6:00 p.m. On Wednesday, November 13, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
