Virginia Union University hosted the 2024 Panther Invitational Cross-Country Meet on Friday, September 27, at Bryan Park in Richmond, Va.
The VUU women finished fourth while the men placed second.
The men were led by freshman
Franklin Kipchirchir, who won the meet among individual runners.
"This meet wasn't our best on both the men's and women's sides, with the men finishing in 2nd place and the women placing 4th," said VUU Head Cross-Country Coach Franck Charles. "However, we did have standout performances with
Franklin Kipchirchir, who came in 1st overall for the men, and Toni MiddleBrooks, who placed 3rd overall for the women. It was a pleasure to host our second home cross country meet, where multiple colleges competed, including Chowan, Elizabeth City, North Carolina Wesleyan, Shaw University, St. Augustine's, Southern Virginia, and Virginia State University. We also welcomed athletes from Old Dominion University and Longwood College who competed in the meet. We truly appreciate all the schools that came out to run with us."
VUU will now travel to Cary, N.C., to compete in the Cedric Walker HBCU Challenge on Friday, October 4.
