Virginia Union University's
Joshua Caine and
Jordan Gibson scored 11 points apiece to lead VUU to a 70-48 win over Bowie State University on Wednesday, January 24, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
VUU's
Tahj Harding added 10 points while teammate
Zyir Baskerville led the Panthers on the boards with seven rebounds.
"Our goal for this Bowie game was to be consistent on both ends of the court," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jay Butler. "I thought we came out with great effort throughout the game, and it was a good team win tonight.Â
Joshua Caine was perfect from the field, and he knocked down his free throws tonight. I also thought
Jakobe Williams,
Kaylen Vines, and
Jordan Gibson gave us some good minutes off the bench to help us extend the lead in the second half."
Virginia Union is now tied with Lincoln University of Pennsylvania for first place in the Northern Division of the CIAA. Both the Panthers and Lions have identical 2-0 divisional records.
VUU will now travel to Bluefield, W.V., to face Bluefield State University at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27.
