Virginia Union University's
Tahj Harding scored 14 points, but Claflin University defeated VUU 71-53 on Tuesday, January 9, in Orangeburg, S.C.
VUU's
Jonathan Salazar led the Panthers on the boards with seven rebounds.
"I thought we came out very flat in the first half and dug ourselves in a hole," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jay Butler. "I thought we played much better in the second half, but it was too much to overcome from the first half deficit. We have to find ways to get more guys to score consistently for us to win these conference games."
Virginia Union will now travel to Fayetteville, N.C., to face Fayetteville State University at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 11.
