Virginia Union University's Jonathan Salazar scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead VUU to a 62-48 win over Fayetteville State on Thursday, January 11, in Fayetteville, N.C.

VUU's Tahj Harding added 14 points while teammate Travis Vaughn also pulled down six rebounds in the win.

"I was very proud of the guys' defensive performance against a talented Fayetteville State team," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach Jay Butler. "Anytime you can hold them to under 50 points is a good team effort. I was impressed with Jonathan Salazar and Tahj Harding's leadership today. I can't say enough about our four freshmen tonight. Travis Vaughn, Joshua Caine, Zyir Baskerville, and Ashton Pratt all gave us good minutes in a tough environment on the road."

Virginia Union will now return home to Barco-Stevens Hall to face the University of Charleston at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 15, in Richmond, Va.
