VUU's Ahonen Invited to Teach Course in Thailand

Virginia Union University's Athletic Trainer, Sean Ahonen, has been invited by the United States Sports Academy to teach a course on sports safety to the Sports Authority of Thailand, it was announced on Monday, June 5.

Ahonen, who has served at VUU since 2020, will be traveling to Bangkok, Thailand June 26-30 for a weeklong course in Sports Safety.

"I am excited for the opportunity to collaborate with the United States Sports Academy and spread the word on sports safety," Ahonen said.  "Not only will I get to teach something I am passionate about, but I will also be able to spread the message of Virginia Union and what we have to offer."


"This is a tremendous opportunity for Sean and we are very fortunate to experience his high level of talent on a daily basis here at Virginia Union," said Joe Taylor, VUU's Vice-President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Community Wellness.  "Hard work does not go unnoticed."

Ahonen attended Graduate school at Columbus State University where he obtained his master's degree in education while working for the Hughston Orthopedic Hospital.  He received his degree in Athletic Training from Valdosta State University in 2004.
