Virginia Union University's Jade Lane had 13 kills, three service aces and a kill, but Bluefield State College dealt the Lady Panthers volleyball team its first loss of the season 25-17, 21-26, 25-14, 25-17, on Wednesday, September 7, in Bluefield, W.V.
 
VUU's Amilex Lopez-Ayala led VUU with 14 kills while teammate Ashlee Franklin garnered 29 assists.
 
"Obviously, we have some work to do," said VUU Head Volleyball Coach Joe Sullivan.
 
The loss dropped Virginia Union to 2-1 on the season.
 
The Lady Panthers will open their 2022 home season when they host a tri-match on Saturday, September 10, in Barco-Stevens Hall.  VUU will face Goldey-Beacom College at 11:00 a.m. and will then play Mount Olive College at 3:00 p.m.
 
Admission is free to both matches.
