Virginia Union defeated Goldey-Beacom College 25-19, 25-12, 21-25, 25-21 but then fell to the University of Mount Olive 25-13, 25-15, 25-14 in a home-opening tri-match on Saturday, September 10, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
VUU's
Amilex Lopez-Ayala recorded 24 kills to go along with 20 defensive digs in the opener, and then had five more kills against Mount Olive in the second match.
Virginia Union's
Ashlee Franklin recorded 16 defensive digs and 36 assists against Goldey-Beacom and had 17 assists against Mount Olive.

VUU is now 3-2 on the season and will now travel to Frostburg, Md., to meet Frostburg State University at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13.
