Virginia Union University's Mica Kapruto placed second while teammate
Marcus Phifer placed fourth as the VUU Men's Cross-Country Team won the VSU Invitational on Friday, September 23.
VUU beat five other teams, including host Virginia State University, to take the crown. Virginia Union, Virginia State, Bluefield State College, Shaw University, Chowan University and Washington Adventist University all competed in the meet.

Kapruto finished the eight-kilometer course with a time of 27:52.0 while Phifer ran the course with a time of 28:23.2.

Virginia Union now travels to Cary, N.C., to compete in the HBCU Challenge on Saturday, October 1.
