Virginia Union University's Marcus Phifer placed third overall at the VUU Cross-Country Fall Opener, held on Friday, September 16, at Bryan Park in Richmond, Va.

Phifer completed the eight-kilometer course with a time of 28:13.4 while teammate Derrick Chesire placed fifth overall with a time of 30:20.2.

"We are building and we are getting better every meet," said VUU Head Cross Country Coach Franck Charles.  "I am proud of them .. It was great to host our first home meet since 2015 . We would like to thank everyone that came out to support us."
