Virginia Union University's Ashlee Franklin recorded 17 assists and five defensive digs, but Frostburg State University defeated the Lady Panthers 25-13, 25-15, 25-14, on Tuesday, September 13, in Frostburg, Md.

"Our ladies showed maturity to what their potential will be in game one last night competing against a good well coached Frostburg State team," said VUU Head Volleyball Coach Joe Sullivan.  "We need to keep grinding in practice to tweak the small things and keep the focus headed in the right direction."

VUU's Amilex Lopez-Ayala had five kills and teammate DaNetra Franklin led the team with nine digs.

Virginia Union now travels to Elizabeth City, N.C., to face Elizabeth City State University at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15.
