Virginia Union University's
Jordan Peebles has been named the CIAA Field Athlete of the Week for his performance in the Fred Hardy Invitational, the CIAA announced on Tuesday, March 22.
Pebbles, a two-sport athlete at VUU, posted an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark of 14.86 meters (48'9") in the triple jump to finish first overall at the Fred Hardy Invitational, ahead of CIAA indoor champion Emmanuel Oguntoye from rival Virginia State. An All-CIAA performer on the hardwood the past two seasons, Peebles delivered a triple jump mark that currently ranks fourth nationally in Division II and leads both the CIAA and Atlantic Region this outdoor season.
"Too Many people want the appearance of winning rather than the practice and hard work that creates a true champion," said Interim Virginia Union University Track & Field Coach
Franck Charles.
Virginia Union's Track & Field Team will compete in the Doc Jopson Invite at Bridgewater College on Saturday, March 26, in Bridgewater, Va.
