Virginia Union University honored those student-athletes who have achieved stellar performance in the classroom and have epitomized what it really means to be a STUDENT-athlete on Wednesday, February 16, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va. A total of 147 student-athletes achived a grade point average of 3.0 or better, including 12 who achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Five of the 12 student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 grade point average are also in the Masters' Program at Virginia Union, with four getting their Masters in Data Analytics and one working on their Masters in Biology.
The greatest concentration of majors among the 147 student-athletes are in Biology, the Cyber Security/Computer Information Systems programs and Criminology/Criminal Justice.
"This represents approximately 56% of our Student-Athletes/Performers with 3.0 and higher GPA's," said VUU Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support
E. Lee Coble. "They continue to excel in and out of the classroom. Congratulations to all our honorees who have accepted the responsibility of STUDENT FIRST; ATHLETE SECOND. Thanks to all our faculty, coaches, academic support and the athletic administration team for their support of these student-athletes."
