Virginia Union University's Aireanna Johnson had nine kills and three blocks as the Lady Panthers swept Bowie State University 25-18, 25-21, 26-24 on Thursday, October 20, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

VUU's Maysun Creery recorded 21 defensive digs while teammate Ashlee Franklin had six service aces in the win.

"I'm really proud of our ladies tonight," said VUU Head Volleyball Coach Joe Sullivan.  "They executed our game plan well, coupled with playing gritty against a good Bowie team! We have to keep committed to discipline and working hard in practice making our weaknesses our strengths!"

Franklin also had 19 assists as VUU recorded its 11th win of the season.

Virginia Union's homestand continues when the Lady Panthers face Lincoln University of Pennsylvania at 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 24, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
