Virginia Union University's men's basketball team won their second straight road game as the Panthers downed Shaw University in a non-conference match-up 85-73 on Monday, January 20, in Raleigh, N.C.
Â
VUU's
Terrell Leach led the Panthers with 24 points while teammate
Jordan Peebles recorded a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Â
"It felt good to get back-to-back wins on the road," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jay Butler. "I thought we did a good job rebounding the basketball tonight and attacking the basket for easy baskets.Â
Terrell Leach got us going early in the first half and
Jordan Peebles was fantastic, rebounding and finishing on the offensive end at the rim. I think the guys are starting to understand what is expected on the road to win and hopefully we can keep it up to get our road record back up to 500 in these next few road games."
Â
Virginia Union outrebounded Shaw 47-28 in the game and outscored Shaw in the paint 46-6.
Â
The win raised VUU's record to 11-8 while Shaw fell to 4-14.
Â
Virginia Union now travels to Elizabeth City, N.C., to face Elizabeth City State University at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22.
