Virginia Union University's
Terrell Leach scored a team-high 14 points, but Fayetteville State University defeated the Panthers 67-64 on Saturday, November 23, in Fayetteville, N.C.
"I thought we got off to slow start and Fayetteville shot the ball well in the first half, said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jay Butler. "We fought hard to get back into the game in the second half but we had too many mistakes down the stretch and missed free throws to get the win on the road."
VUU's
Jordan Peebles scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds while teammate
Tyriek Railey added 10 points in the game.
"
Jordan Peebles continue to play well for us. We need more guys playing well to consistently win games especially on the road," said Butler. "
Tyriek Railey came off the bench to give us some good defense and scoring."
The loss dropped VUU to 2-4 overall while Fayetteville State is 5-0.
Virginia Union returns home to face Claflin University at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 25, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
