Terrell Leach scored 27 points to lead VUU to a 87-77 on Thursday, November 21, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
Leach's 27 points pushed his career point total to 1,120. He scored 623 points in two seasons at Winston-Salem State University and now has 497 points in his Virginia Union career.
"This was a good team-win, offensively and defensively, against a solid Livingstone team," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jay Butler. "I thought
Raemaad Wright was fantastic tonight going up against the taller twins from Livingstone and getting a huge double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Terrell Leach came out and played one of his best games of the year. He shot the ball extremely well but he was the second leader in rebounds and assist tonight. "
VUU's
Jordan Peebles added 14 points in the win, a feat that didn't escape the eye of Butler.
"
Jordan Peebles continues to put together solid games for us and has been the unsung hero so far this season," Butler said.
The win was the second straight for the Panthers and raised VUU's record to 2-3 on the season and 1-0 in CIAA play. Livingstone fell to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the CIAA.
Virginia Union now travels to Fayetteville, N.C., to face Fayetteville State University at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23. The Panthers return home to Barco-Stevens Hall when VUU hosts Claflin University at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 25.
