Box Score Virginia Union University's Essence Poteat had 11 kills as the Lady Panthers swept Bowie State University 25-22, 25-16, 25-16 on Monday, October 14, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
 
VUU's Jamaica Adams had 24 defensive digs while teammate Kamryn Young had 12 defensive digs in the win.
 
"The Lady Panthers held strong today and stayed focused," said VUU Head Coach Renesha Johnson.  "The team stayed consistent as we pulled down a three-game win over Bowie State.  I'm so proud of the ladies and everything we practiced this week we were able to execute on the court, and that led us to a win."
 
Virginia Union's A'rmaria Wright had 28 assists and two service aces in the win.
 
The win raised VUU's record to 5-1 in the CIAA.  Bowie State fell to 1-6 in CIAA play.
 
Virginia Union now faces Virginia State University at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
