Virginia Union University's
William Jenkins recorded a double-double by scoring a team-high 19 points and grabbing a team-high 13 rebounds, but Queens University of Charlotte defeated the Panthers 102-85 on Thursday, January 3, in Charlotte, N.C.
The Panthers had five players reach double-figures in the game.
VUU newcomer
Terrell Leach scored 13 points while
Demarius Pitts and
Jordan White scored 12 points apiece.
Virginia Union's
Eric Bowles scored 10 points.
"When you're playing a top 10 team in the country, you've got to come out and defend," said VUU Head Coach
Jay Butler. "We did a poor job defensively tonight. You've got to give Queens credit, though. They executed on both ends tonight and they were the more aggressive team."
The loss drops VUU to 5-7 on the season while Queens is now 13-2. Virginia Union now travels to Raleigh, N.C., to face Shaw University at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 10.
