Virginia Union University's women's volleyball team, despite suffering a 25-20, 13-25, 25-19, 22-25, 13-15 loss to Chowan on Friday, November 2, Murfreesboro, N.C., have captured the #2 seed in the Northern Division of the CIAA.

Chowan and Virginia Union tied in conference winning percentage and division winning percentage. They then split in head-to-head. When point spread was tallied, the Lady Panthers were a +8 in the first match and the Hawks a +6 in the second, which puts the Panthers at the advantage to the No. 2 seed.

As the #2 seed in the North, Virginia Union will host the first round of the CIAA Volleyball Tournament at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va., against either Winston-Salem State University or Fayetteville State University.

VUU's Ambryanna Moore led the Lady Panthers against Chowan with 14 kills and six blocks.

Virginia Union's A'rmaria Wright had 27 assists and teammate Jamaica Adams had 21 defensive digs.

The loss gave VUU a regular-season record of 12-14 overall and 11-6 in the CIAA.  Chowan is now 11-16 overall and 11-6 in the CIAA.
