The Virginia Union University student-athletes and coaches made Christmas more merry for one Angel Tree family as the student-athletes and coaches collected and donated toys for a family in need this year.
The student-athletes and coaches collected several hundred dollars in toys and gifts in their Angel Tree effort.
Through community support and dedicated partners, the Christmas Assistance Program provides gifts at Christmastime to nearly 3,000 families and 5,000 children across Central Virginia.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree, in partnership with NBC-12, is an opportunity for members of our community to come together by adopting Angels from an Angel Tree at area malls and corporations, which allows the Salvation Army to help families in Central Virginia who are struggling to make ends meet, by giving them a wonderful Christmas.
Each Angel (children age 0-14) represents a child in need in Central Virginia, who, without the support of the community, might not have a Christmas. Members of our community adopt the Angels by providing new clothing and gifts for their Christmas.
