Lady Panthers Bid Kodi Thacker Farewell

Box Score Virginia Union University's volleyball team said good-bye to the team's only senior, Kodi Thacker, as the Lady Panthers hosted Chowan University on Thursday, November 9, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

Unfortunately, Chowan came away with a hard-fought 25-14, 26-24, 25-20 win over the Lady Panthers in the match.

VUU's Kamryn Young led VUU with eight kills while teammate Ambryanna Moore had six blocks.

Virginia Union's A'rmaria Wright had 11 assists while Akira Baker collected 13 defensive digs.

The loss gave VUU a final 2017 regular-season record of 15-10 overall and 8-8 in CIAA play.  Chowan is now 15-11 overall and 13-3 in the CIAA.

Virginia Union also finishes the season in third place of the CIAA's Northern Division.  The Lady Panthers will now move on to the 2017 CIAA Championships, which begin play on Friday, November 17, at Virginia State University in Petersburg, Va.

By virtue of the Lady Panthers' third-place finish, VUU will face the #2 team in the Southern Division, Winston-Salem State University, at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 17.  The tournament will be held in the VSU Multi-Purpose Center on the Virginia State campus.
