The Virginia Union University men's and women's cross-country teams, coached by Melissa Ferry, will be hosting the 2017 Panther Classic this FRIDAY (October 13, 2017) in Bryan Park in Richmond, Va.

The men's cross-country team is the three-time defending CIAA Champion while the women's team placed second at last year's CIAA Championships.

The meet will include teams from Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia State University, Bowie State University, Chowan University, and Washington Adventist University as well as both the men's and women's VUU teams.

The women's race, a five-kilometer race, will start at 4:00 p.m. with an eight-kilometer men's race beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The event is the only home cross-country meet for the Panthers this season and will be the final meet for both teams before the 2017 CIAA Championships, to be held on Thursday, October 26, in Salem, Va.

The meet is free and open to the public!
