Virginia Union University's men's track & field team, fresh off it's performance at the VCU Invite, is now ranked 19th in the nation in the latest NCAA DII Outdoor T&F National Team Rankings, released by the United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association on Tuesday, March 24.

The VUU men's track & field team is also ranked fourth in the Atlantic Region of the NCAA.  In the last USTFCCA ranking, Virginia Union was ranked 25th.

Virginia Union University's 4 x 100 relay team of Malcom Morris, Brian Oliver, Ed'Treon Wilcox andAntoine Whitaker won the event at the VCU Invite with a time of 41.36 seconds on Saturday, March 21, in Richmond, Va.

VUU's team won the event over several Division I schools, including Virginia Commonwealth University and Howard University.

VUU's Jontue McDowell set a new school record when he placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 48.02.

VUU's Artneil Reid also set a new school record by finishing third with a distance of 48' 4.75" in the triple jump. 

Virginia Union's Berfrantz Charles also finished second in the long jump with a distance of 23' 6.75".

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits," said VUU Head Track & Field Coach Wilbert D. Johnson.  "There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there; you must go beyond."

Virginia Union will compete in the Fred Hardy Relays, to be held at the University of Richmond, on Saturday, March 28.
