Virginia Union University's volleyball team took two of three matches at the CIAA Round-Up II, held on September 27-28 in Fayetteville, N.C.

After being defeated in the opener by host Fayetteville State University 25-23, 25-14, 25-22, the Lady Panthers rebounded to down Shaw University 25-9, 25-15, 25-16 on Saturday, September 27.

In the final match, Virginia Union defeated Saint Augustine's University 19-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19 on Sunday, September 28.

VUU's Chelan Wongus had six service aces for the Lady Panthers in their match against Shaw while teammate Renesha Chiles had eight kills.  VUU's Esha Atkins also had 19 assists in the match.

Virginia Union's Kristin Madison had 17 kills while Chelsea Beaudoin had 12 kills in VUU's win over Saint Augustine's.  Beaudoin also had 15 defensive digs while Atkins recorded 29 assists.

The wins raised VUU's record to 7-6 overall and 6-2 in the CIAA.  The Lady Panthers are in second place in the Northern Division of the CIAA.

Virginia Union now travels to Elizabeth City, N.C., to face Elizabeth City State University at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2.
