Box Score Virginia Union University said good-bye to three seniors on the Lady Panthers volleyball team in the home finale of the 2014 season on Monday, November 3, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
Unfortunately for the Lady Panthers, Elizabeth City State University defeated VUU 21-25, 25-22, 25-23, 16-25, 15-11.
The three seniors,
Renesha Chiles,
Kristin Madison and
Ellie Parsons were escorted by their parents and families between the first and second sets.
Madison led the Lady Panthers with 23 kills while Chiles added 10 kills.
VUU's
Esha Atkins had 48 assists in the match and six service aces.
Virginia Union's
Taylor Witherspoon led VUU with 23 defensive digs while Parsons had 21 digs. Â VUU's
Chelsea Beaudoin had 17 digs and
Chelan Wongus collected 12 digs. Â Both Chiles and Atkins had 10 digs apiece.
The loss dropped VUU to 11-15 overall and 5-4 in CIAA Northern Division play. Â The Lady Panthers are fourth in the Northern Division with a road game against Chowan remaining before the CIAA Tournament.
Elizabeth City State is now 8-15 overall and 6-3 in the CIAA Northern Division.
VUU completes the 2014 regular season with the Lady Panthers travel to Murfreesboro, N.C., to face Chowan University on Friday, November 7.
