Box Score Virginia State University's Kierris Doyle had five service aces, but Virginia State University outlasted the Lady Panthers 25-18, 25-21, 25-21 in VUU's home opener on Monday, September 10, in Barco-Stevens Hall.

The match was the CIAA opener for both teams.

VUU's Renesha Chiles and Ellie Parsons had 11 defensive digs apiece while teammate Allorie Sanders had 13 assists.

Chiles also led VUU with five kills.

The loss drops VUU to 0-9 on the season and 0-1 in CIAA play while Virginia State is now 1-5 overall and 1-0 in the CIAA.

Virginia Union now travels to Lincoln University, Pa., to compete in the CIAA Volleyball Round-Up.  The Lady Panthers will meet Shaw University at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, and then play Saint Augustine's University at 11:00 that same day.

VUU plays Fayetteville State University at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 16, on the second day of the round-up.
