Virginia Union University's men's cross-country team finished second at the Bowie State University Post-Homecoming Challenge, held on September 21 at Bowie, Md.
Bowie State won the event with a 28 total team points while VUU was second with 43 points. Washington Adventist University was third with 49 points.
VUU's
Hakeem Fields, a junior from Philadelphia, Pa., was the top Panther finisher with a time of 31:20 over the 8,000 meter course. Fields' time was good for fifth place individually.
Virginia Union's
Andrew Njoku (above) recorded a personal-best time of 31:48 to finish seventh overall.
VUU's
Wesley Arthur was ninth with a time of 33:22 while
Deion Dickens was 10th with a time of 33:23.
Marcus Dean rounded out the scoring for Virginia Union by finishing 12th with a time of 34:47.
VUU now returns to Richmond, Va., for their home opener on Friday, September 23, at Bryant Park.
