Virginia Union University's Hakeem Fields placed 11th as the Panthers' Men's Cross-Country Team placed fourth at the Panther Cross-Country Classic, held on October 14 in Bryant Park in Richmond, Va.

Fields finished the 8,000-meter course with a time of 31:08 while teammate Andrew Njoku was 14th with a time of 32:33.

Hampton University won the event with a team score of 26 while Virginia State University was second with 35 points.  Bowie State University was third with 73 points as VUU placed fourth with a score of 76.  Elizabeth City State University was fifth with a score of 119 and Washington Adventist University was sixth with a score of 135.

VUU's Deion Dickens was 15th with a time of 32:34 and Rodney Hargrove was 17th with a time of 33:58.  

The Panthers' Marcus Dean was 19th with a time of 34:46.

VUU now travels to Cary, N.C., to compete in the CIAA Championships on October 22.
