Virginia Union University's Aisha Berkley garnered six kills in 24 total attempts, but Elizabeth City State University spoiled the Lady Panthers' home opener 25-21, 25-10, 25-7 on September 7 in Barco-Stevens Hall.

Berkley also had 11 digs in the match.  

VUU's Lashira Williams also had three kills and Brittanee Adams had seven assists and seven digs.

Elizabeth City State was paced by Whitney Green's 10 kills.

The loss drops VUU to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in CIAA play.  Elizabeth City State raised it's record to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the CIAA.
