Virginia Union University's volleyball team downed Johnson C. Smith University 25-23; 21-25; 28-26; 23-25; 18-16 in the opening match of the Queens University Graphix B Invitational on September 3 in Charlotte, N.C.

 

The win was the first of the season for VUU.  No stats from the match are available as of yet.

 

In the second match, Belmont Abbey College stopped the Lady Panthers 3-0.  Set scores were not available.

On the second day of the tournament, host Queens College stopped VUU 25-10, 25-22, 25-5 in the first match of the day.  VUU's Aisha Berkley (above) led the Lady Panthers with seven digs while she and Cheri Wynn had three kills apiece.

In the concluding match of the invitational, Saint Augustine's College downed VUU 25-16, 25-19, 25-17.

VUU is now 1-4 as the Lady Panthers prepare for the their home opener against Elizbabeth City State University on September 7 in Barco-Stevens Hall.
